Blockchain and banking, the experience of UniCredit

20.Dec.2018Insights

«UniCredit, one of the main banks in Italy and Europe, is in a consortium with other thirteen banks to handle and develop the blockchain technology». Emanuele Cicco takes care of the development of trade and working capital solutions at UniCredit and he explained how the consortium is willing to implement its services thanks to the blockchain.

«We are working – he said – to offer the clients of all the banks that joined the consortium the possibility of entering a platform and digitalising the end-to-end transactions to trade goods and services. The blockchain technology, in fact, can certainly improve the traceability and digitalisation of the whole transaction and, thanks to it, companies can access more easily the financial services that are offered by the consortium bank».

Blockchain technology, as we know, is invading every possible sector. Being a new technology, however, there are too few people in the world able to use and develop it. And nowadays, the job market needs trained people to face this technological revolution. For example, to stay in the banking field, «today it is essential not to employ only classic bankers, but people who also understand the potentials of the technology», as Emanuele Cicco said.

That’s why Consulcesi Tech, together with the Italian Link Campus University, is organising the first MBA in ‘Blockchain and Economics of Cryptocurrencies’. Lessons start in March and aim to train students with different backgrounds in different subjects, so that they will have a complete knowledge of everything related to the blockchain.
